Creating lasting impact starts with meeting fundamental needs. At CREA, LLC, we champion affordable housing as a pathway to progress through properties like Nordic Landing. As a vibrant, service-enriched development designed to empower youth aging out of foster care and support young families, it serves as a place where individuals can build independence and stability for generations to come.
Together with DHTC Development, CREA is honored to support a development that provides affordable housing today and aims to create lasting, multigenerational benefits for individuals, families, and the entire Springfield, Missouri community.
The groundbreaking for Nordic Landing was held on March 27, 2023, and just over a year later, the grand opening was celebrated on July 16, 2024. These milestones mark not just the construction of a building, but the creation of a community rooted in opportunity and long-term impact.
Nordic Landing spans 2.4 acres and features 41 affordable one- and two-bedroom apartments. Of these, 38 homes are dedicated to affordable housing through LIHTC, with eight specifically reserved for youth transitioning out of foster care. These young people, often facing immense challenges, now have a stable, supportive environment in which to grow, learn, and thrive.
“I’m exceptionally proud to be part of the Nordic Landing development. This is more than housing, it’s a space that provides valuable services like youth programs and workforce development, giving residents the tools they can use to succeed. It’s exciting to contribute to a development that not only creates homes but also supports the growth and success of the community. I’m honored to be involved in something that will make a lasting, positive impact.”
- Adam Lavelle SVP, Originator
Nordic Landing goes beyond providing housing, it’s a launchpad for opportunity. Through partnerships with the Flourish Community Development Corporation and others, residents have access to critical services such as peer mentoring, job readiness training, healthcare, and soft skills development. These services provide the tools necessary for residents to succeed.
Nordic Landings multigenerational impact is founded in the 3,500-square-foot commercial space on the first floor where it will soon house a daycare center operated by OACAC (Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation). Scheduled to open in September 2025, this center will provide care for up to 15 preschoolers, offering a vital resource for working parents and enhancing the development’s long-term reach.
Purposefully located next to the new Boys & Girls Club teen center and within the City of Springfield’s $21 million Grant Avenue Parkway revitalization, Nordic Landing is part of a growing network of resources designed to strengthen families across generations to meet the needs of today, while building a vibrant community for the future.
“Nordic Landing represents a transformational investment in the heart of Springfield. As the first major development along the newly revitalized Grant Avenue corridor, once a blighted and overlooked area, this 41-unit community is a powerful example of what’s possible when housing is designed with people in mind. With eight homes set aside for youth aging out of foster care, a daycare center, and onsite services, Nordic Landing offers more than housing—it offers stability, support, and a sense of belonging that benefits generations to come.”
